Once you discover that you may be pregnant and then confirm that fear, you may begin to feel very alone as you begin to deal with your unplanned pregnancy. Although you may feel isolated and alone, know that you are not and while it may feel like your world is coming to end, know that it is not. Unplanned pregnancies happen all the time to all different kinds of people. You will not be the first to experience and unplanned pregnancy and you will not be the last. You are strong! You can make it through this!
Having personally experienced two unplanned pregnancies, I know how very alone you can initially feel when you are the only one (or only a few people know) the big news. It’s overwhelming to say the least.
While taking the at home pregnancy test during my first pregnancy, I began to freak out as I was reading the positive test results thus learning that I was indeed pregnant. Luckily, a friend was there with me for moral support and she said something that has stuck in my mind all these years later. Very calmly, she reminded me that unplanned pregnancies happen every single day and that other women become unexpectedly pregnant every single day and they can handle it. And if other women could survive an unplanned pregnancy, then I could too!

After thinking about it and letting the shock settle in, I knew that she was right and during the times of my pregnancy that I felt very alone, I repeated that statement in my head, and held on to it. It was comforting to me at that point to know that others had experienced unplanned pregnancies before me and that others would experience them after me and if they made it through them, then so could I.
