Back aches and swollen tired feet; just a few of the pains of pregnancy! Every woman (pregnant or not) needs a little pampering every now and then to soothe her aching body and refresh her spirit.
Below are a few ideas that you can treat yourself with. They are all inexpensive and can be done from the comfort of your own home!
1. Take care of those feet with a lavender foot soak. Fill a small plastic basin with warm water and add a few drops (about 5) of lavender essential oil. Stick your feet in and soak for about ten minutes. Studies show that a ten minute soak increases circulation to the legs and feet as well as shows a measurable change in the automatic nervous system which is the area of the brain that controls stress and anxiety. (Personal note: This was awesome when I was pregnant after a long day of waitressing on my feet!)
2. Another one for the feet! Soothe your tired and swollen feet by filling an empty soda bottle with water and freeze. After it is frozen, place it on the floor and roll your feet back and forth over the bottle to relieve aches and spasms.
3. Dry skin? Try soothing tired and dry skin with this simple honey moisturizer. Mix one teaspoon of honey with one tea spoon of vegetable oil and one teaspoon of lemon juice. Rub into hands, elbows, heels, and anywhere else that feels dry. Leave on for ten minutes then rinse with warm water.
4. Make it a super relaxing snooze! Next time you are taking a nap, make it a super relaxing one by sprinkling a little lavender powder on your pillowcase or tucking a little lavender potpourri inside your pillowcase.
Give some of these ideas a try – you deserve it!
