Lifemothers is a website that has tons of information for pregnant women considering adoption and birthmothers or “lifemothers” as the site calls them.

Skye Hardwick, birthmother, is the creator of the website Lifemothers. She prefers the term Lifemother over birthmother. As she explains “Lifemoms do more than give birth, we give roots, answers, and love.” You can find a detailed explanation of the term lifemother and why Skye prefers it to birthmother.

Lifemothers contains lots of information. As the site explains:
Celebrating Mothers. Offering support, resources, and compassion to Lifemothers. Founded by Lifemother, Skye Hardwick, Lifemothers strives to be a safe haven for all Lifemoms; regardless of age, or contact with child. Lifemothers: because a birthmother's role does not end at 'birth', but continues for life!

For those pregnanct and considering adoption, you will find a long list of links to different resources, some found on Skye’s own site, others found all over the world wide web.

Skye also has a great Single Mom’s page, that includes a lot of links and information for single mothers. Her parenting page includes resources for lifemoms who may be parenting children too.

One of my personal favorite parts of the Lifemothers website is the page featuring Skye’s own adoption related writings. Skye has such a way with words that reaches straight to the heart of a birthmother. Time and time again, I find myself nodding as I read her work. I think my favorite piece of Skye’s is Lucky. I can so relate to her words.

If you are a poetry lover, definitely check out the poetry section on the Lifemothers website which features tons of poetry by different birthmothers.

Whatever you are looking for adoption related, Lifemothers is a good place to start!

Hi Coley,
I tried looking for a certion post that I know I just read not that long ago, and at the time I didn't have a comment, but now I do and just wanted to share with you. I tried e-mailing you at crisispregnancyblog2@adoptionmail.com and it kept comming back to me...

I remember you writing that when you send a gift for Charlie for no reason that you'll also do the same for his sister. I thought that was sweet that you would do that.

Yesterday, I met with my son's (Chance) b.mom (Carrie) for the first time in over a year. The first time that I have met with her without children's aid in the middle. I did not bring my son as we are not at the stage yet. but I went to her narcotics annonyomous group yesterday as she has received her 30 days chip for being clean (the longest she's been clean in about 10 years!) I went to support her. Afterwards we went out and we spent 4 hours together. she asked if we could go and get a Valentine's present for Chance so I said sure. So she bought him a huge monkey and choclates, then she bought a little pink bear and chocolates for Chance's sister (our foster child that we've had for 8 months). She said that couldn't get something for Chance and not his little sister! I thought that was the sweetest thing as she has never met Skylar but that she would think of her! now she is only 16 months so dosen't understand what it means, but I do! She also got me and my husband some chocolates. It was nice to as we were in the store (at 11:45pm) and when she turned around I snapped a picture of her where she is holding Chance's chocolate and stuffed monkey so that I was able to show him that Carrie actually had it with her. I was so thankful for our meeting yesterday and I pray that she'll be able to stay clean so that we'll be able to have a relationship.

I just wanted to share. :)
Amy
