A great resource for women considering adoption is a short booklet entitled
What you Should Know if you are Considering Adoption for your Baby. This booklet was written by my co-blogger Heather.

Clicking on the above link will take you to a PDF file containing the booklet but you can also purchase a hard copy for $2.00 on the
Concerned United Birthparents website.
The booklet does not sugar coat adoption as others tend to, yet it is a very real look at adoption and the on going issues that you will face for a lifetime if you place your baby for adoption.
Heather starts off the booklet by saying:
The words that follow are not intended to be anti-adoption. The fact is that adoption might well be the best plan for you and your child- but in order to be a truly good thing, it needs to be a well-considered decision made at least twice – once before the birth, once after. Your decision will not be truly informed unless you hear the negative aspects of adoption as well as the positive. Following are the most common regrets birthparents have voiced.
Heather goes on to cover fourteen different issues birthparents face and features quotes from veteran birthmothers on each topic.
Following are a few of the topics covered:
- Family preservation
- Dislikes and opinions of society on birthparents
- Pitfalls of private adoptions
- Warnings of adoption agencies and adoption professionals
- Love for your child
- Pain adoption causes
- Losses in adoption
Concluding the booklet is a recommended reading list of books pertaining to adoption, open adoption, single parenting, grief, etc. and a list of internet resources for expectant mothers considering adoption.
So, if you are considering adoption, check out this excellent resource.
