"Two roads diverged in a wood,
And I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made my life all the different."
~ Robert Frost
You are pregnant. It’s been confirmed by the doctor. It still may feel a little surreal but you now have come to the fork in the road. You have options – two of which we will discuss in the next few days in this blog. You can take the road of parenthood or you can take the road of birthmother hood. Each road has different ups and downs and in turn different results and emotions that go along with it. Each road will forever change your life and change who you are and who you will be come.
Which road will you take? You must evaluate your readiness for parenting. Think long and hard about what you believe it takes to be a mother and if you have what you think it takes at this time in your life. Think long and hard about the consequences that becoming a birthmother will be have on your life. No matter which you choose, your life is sure to be different. But only you can decide what is best for your child and then of course, yourself. Only you can decide if you should make a parenting plan or an adoption plan.
Some possible questions to ask yourself and things to think about:
1. Are you ready to raise a child?
Do you feel that you are ready to be a parent for the rest of your life, every single day and minute and hour? Have you always wanted to be a Mom or did children never fit into your future? Be aware that if you place this baby for adoption you might not be able to have children in the future.
