If you are in an unplanned pregnancy and considering adoption, finances and money problems could be one of the largest reasons for considering adoption, but keep in mind that finances can change.
Research, educate, and seek out resources that could assist you in keeping your baby and parenting him or her. Even if you ultimately decide that adoption is the best option for your baby, at least you did your research and can know that you thoroughly checked out all your options.
I’m going to do my best to highlight some of the resources that may be helpful to you if you try to parent your child.
WIC
WIC, which stands for Women, Infants, and Children, provides nutritional supplements, nutrition information, and healthcare referrals to low income pregnant women, infants, and children up to age five. To apply for WIC, you will need to call the agency in your state that handles WIC. When you call, they will help you find the location nearest to you, and then you will set up an appointment. To find a list of the agency to call for each state, go to this
website.
Medicaid
Medicaid provides healthcare to low income families. It is available to low income families who meet the eligibility requirements. Medicaid is administered by each state so the requirements of eligibility differ for each state.
Food Stamps
The Food Stamp program allows low income families to buy nutritious food using Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards. If approved, you can use your food stamp benefits to purchase approved foods in approved grocery stores.
Housing
Co-Adobe offers share housing to single mothers. Through their unique program, single mothers can share housing and living expenses with another single mother.
Continuing your Education
The Raise the Nation Foundation provides single mothers with college grants and scholarships to attend college or repay student loans.
