I am thankful that I made Charlie a Life book. I have written about his
life book before and am really glad that I made it for him.
If you are wondering what a life book is, it’s a scrapbook really, that tells your role in your child’s life and provides him or her with a direct connection to his or her biological history. Charlie’s life book contains information about myself (full name, birth date, favorite color, where I grew up, etc) along with pictures of me as a child to present day, pictures and information on my parents, grandparents, and brother, information and pictures of Noah, a biological family tree, sonogram pictures, adoption poems important to me, and more. I created Charlie’s scrapbook in my favorite digital scrapbooking program as this was an easier and faster way to create the book in a short amount of time versus the old fashioned method of scrapbooking.
I did not create Charlie’s life book until he was about four years old. After seeing such a positive reception of the life book from not only Charlie but his adoptive parents I wish I had created it sooner. It provides him with an instant connection to me and his biological family. He can look at it anytime he wants and according to A. he does enjoy looking at it. She has put it up so that he doesn’t mess it up or tear it up as you know how rough and rowdy five year old boys can be, but when he asks to see it, she gets it for him.
I am thankful that I was able to make it for him and that he enjoys it!
