Being pregnant, even though it may be an unplanned pregnancy, not very many people know, and you loathe the fact you are pregnant, it really is an extraordinary thing. Bringing another life into this world is something truly special.

I didn’t really enjoy either of my pregnancies with Noah and Charlie because I wasn’t “supposed” to be pregnant. They were both unplanned and inconvenient to me at the time. I was not happy to find out I was pregnant with either of them. I didn’t pay too much attention to the changes in my body and the things that were going on both physically and emotionally. I wasn’t excited to start to show or buy maternity clothes. I didn’t like having to tell family and friends that I was pregnant. I loved the baby inside of me and do not regret giving birth to either of my boys. I just wish I had done things differently, in a different order, and with a different outcome. I finally did start to enjoy being pregnant with Noah towards the end of my pregnancy, once I felt more comfortable and had time to adjust to all the changes in my life. Not just the hormonal changes, but the lifestyle changes that occur when becoming a mother.

Now ten years after giving birth to Noah, five years after giving birth to Charlie, and three miscarriages, I regret not enjoying those pregnancies more. With one of my pregnancy losses, I did not lose the baby until around twenty one-ish weeks and let me tell you, I enjoyed every moment of being pregnant that pregnancy!

None of us ever know what the future may hold. This could be the only pregnancy you ever have or you could go on to have ten more! Either way, my advice to you today is no matter how unplanned your pregnancy is – try to make the most of it. You’ll never know when and if you will be pregnant again.

“You’ll never know when and if you will be pregnant again.”

I think that is one of THE most important facts that women with unplanned pregnancies really need to understand.

I totally, totally agree Jan! Given my present situation, if that is the one thing that pregnant women considering adoption learn from reading this blog, then so be it. I just can not stress how important I think this is! I don’t regret my decision and what’s done is but gosh, if I had only known………..
