Oh, I just love this picture! It means a lot to me because we are just doing a normal parent/child thing. It was taken a few weeks ago at Noah’s tenth birthday party. Noah’s birthday party was at a fun park that has arcade games, go carts, bumper boats, ski ball, miniature golf, and more! While Noah was riding a go cart with J, Charlie who decided (for some odd reason) that he did NOT want to ride a go cart. His Mom needed to stay outside and watch his sister since she was on a go cart at that moment. So I offered to take him inside and play games with him.
This was the first time I’ve been somewhere and gone off alone with Charlie. It was great! Not that I don’t love spending time with his family, too, but it was nice to spend a few minutes that were just him and I.
We went inside and went over to the children’s area and he started playing this basketball game. Each time he’d get the ball in he’d get a ticket or two that could later be cashed in to get little trinkets or toys. Next we went and played a game where you bopped little duckies on the head with this mallet/hammer type thing. He wasn’t doing so great by himself and said, “Come on Cola, help me!” Oh, I loved helping him and we made a great team racking up lots of tickets.
We played a few more games and then decided to make our way back outside to where everyone else was. At this point, we had a lot of tickets! He couldn’t wait to get outside and show A. all his tickets!
Charlie: “Look at all the tickets me and Cola got, Mom.”
A.: “How many tickets do you have?”
Charlie: “A whole, whole bunch!”
Coley: “Want to count them?”
Charlie: “Yes!”
So, Charlie and I start counting the tickets while A. is snatching pictures.
”1, 2, 3,” and its Charlie counting (not me)…. All the way up to 63!
Wow!
