Are you in an unplanned pregnancy and feeling pressure from others in your life? Different people in your life may be pressuring you to choose different options and with all of these people pressuring you at the same time you may feel very overwhelmed!
Perhaps you are a teenager or young adult, living your parents home, your parents may be pressuring you to choose adoption. They may feel that you are not ready to parent yet and that the best option for you and your baby may be adoption. They may not be willing to help you in parenting which only adds pressure to you.
Perhaps your baby’s father is pressuring you to have an abortion. He may feel that this would be the best solution for all involved since the two of you may not be ready for a baby yet.
Perhaps your friends are pressuring you as well. They may be single or young mothers themselves and may be sharing with you how you can survive, which is also adding pressure to you.
You are feeling pressure from all directions! What do you do?
1. Breathe! You have to take some time for yourself to deal with all the overwhelming feelings.
2. Thank those for their support but also let them know that they are pressuring you and that you need a little time to breathe and come to a decision.
3. Weigh your options and explore all your options. If you parent, who will help you provide for the baby? Are there programs that can help you? Inquire about adoption laws in your state as well to explore all your options.
4. Let your loved ones know that you are working to come to a decision. Consult them when you want their advice and input into a particular scenario.
5.Be strong and do what you think is best for your baby and yourself.
Ultimately this is your pregnancy, your baby, and your decision!
