Have you given any thought as to who you would like to be in the delivery room with you when you give birth? As your due date draws near this is something that you will want to give some thought to.
If you are still involved with your baby’s father, have a boyfriend or spouse, then they are an obvious choice. If you are still friendly with your child’s father but not “together” then you may still wish to ask him to be in the delivery room with you since this is his child too, but also don’t do anything or ask anyone who makes you feel uncomfortable.

Are you feeling pressure to place your baby for adoption? I’m referring to pressure placed up on you either from family and friends or pressure do to your situation and circumstances.
Perhaps, you are feeling pressure do to your finances. You’re working a dead end job, you can barely make the rent. Sound familiar? Believe me; some people who plan to get pregnant may not be much more financially stable than you are. Check out what resources your state offers for mothers in need. Check into housing and other government programs. By doing this, you could find... more
Not too long ago, I came across an article about a proposed bill in Missouri. This new bill makes it illegal for a pregnant woman to be coerced into having an abortion. Per the new bill coercion could be “physical harm, or a threat to evict, fire from a job, or withhold financial assistance.
While I think this is great – no one should be forced into doing something she isn’t comfortable with – I couldn’t help but think why aren’t... more
As I mentioned in a previous post, it is good to stay indoors whenever possible during the hot summers while pregnant but there may be times during the summer in which you have to be outdoors or in which you just want to be outdoors. As a pregnant woman out in the sun, there are a few things you should remember.
Drink lots of water. It’s easy to get hydrated when you are outdoors for extended periods of time so be sure to drink plenty of water. Don’t forget the sunscreen! Pregnancy can do weird things to the body and even if you are not normally the type of... more
We hear a lot about depression after pregnancy, known as post partum depression, but pregnant women can also suffer from depression during their pregnancy. I think, as a woman in an unplanned pregnancy, you could be more apt to suffering from depression during pregnancy as you may not experience some of the joyful moments that other expectant mothers experience. Some of those joyful moments of pregnancy could be replaced with worry, fear, and anxiety.
According to the March of Dimes, out of every ten pregnant women, one or two of them will experience symptoms... more
In a previous post, I mentioned a new show that will be premiering on ABC tomorrow night and I’ve learned more about it after watching Molly Ringwald talk about it this morning on one of the morning shows.
The Secret Life of an American Teenager is a new teen angst drama. Molly Ringwald is in this new show. You remember her, don’t ya? She played several lead... more
Is one of the main reasons that you are considering making an adoption plan for your unborn baby because you want to finish your education? Nowadays, finishing your education while you are parenting is not impossible or as difficult as it once was. I’m not saying that parenting while finishing school is ideal or even easy. Parenting is never easy even when you are totally prepared for it but parenting doesn’t mean that you still can’t follow your dreams and pursue your career goals. Difficult? Yes! Impossible? No.
It’s blazing hot here in the south. I can recall from my past pregnancies that being pregnant in the summer is not fun, especially if you are in the third trimester of your pregnancy. Being pregnant typically makes you feel hotter regardless of what season it is but during the summer when the heat isn’t just caused by your hormones, getting comfortable and staying cool can be challenging.
Dr. Nardone, an OBGYN in Rhode Island advises expectant mothers to pay attention to the heat index.
“If the heat index (meaning how hot the temperature feels because... more
In a previous post I wrote about the story line on the ABC Soap One Life to Live which involves a pregnant teenager. Since I watch this soap on a pretty regular basis anyways, I have been following the story. It has turned in a direction that I did not expect.
First of all, they have done a really good job at making this story line seem as real possible. Of course, since it is a soap opera, there are... more
Just when teen pregnancy seems to be the talk of the town, it’s all over television too! It’s being talked about everywhere lately as the news of the suspected teen pregnancy pact broke, which Jenna wrote about the other day.
That news came right about the time of the birth of Jamie Lynn Spear’s baby girl. In case you don’t know (which you’d have to live under a rock to not know the way they are broadcasting... more
