FoodJust because you're experiencing an unplanned pregnancy doesn't mean that you can't take care of yourself and this growing baby. Whether you choose to parent or place your baby, you should be eating well during this time. Your baby needs good nutrition to grow. You need good nutrition to stay afloat in order to deal with the physical demands of pregnancy and the emotional demands of dealing with this situation. So how do you eat healthy while pregnant? As I mentioned in a previous post, it is good to stay indoors whenever possible during the hot summers while pregnant but there may be times during the summer in which you have to be outdoors or in which you just want to be outdoors. As a pregnant woman out in the sun, there are a few things you should remember.

  • Drink lots of water. It’s easy to get hydrated when you are outdoors for extended periods of time so be sure to drink plenty of water.
  • Don’t forget the sunscreen! Pregnancy can do weird things to the body and even if you are not normally the type of person who sunburns, you may sunburn outdoors during pregnancy so be sure to lather up in a

It’s blazing hot here in the south. I can recall from my past pregnancies that being pregnant in the summer is not fun, especially if you are in the third trimester of your pregnancy. Being pregnant typically makes you feel hotter regardless of what season it is but during the summer when the heat isn’t just caused by your hormones, getting comfortable and staying cool can be challenging. Back aches and swollen tired feet; just a few of the pains of pregnancy! Every woman (pregnant or not) needs a little pampering every now and then to soothe her aching body and refresh her spirit. Below are a few ideas that you can treat yourself with. They are all inexpensive and can be done from the comfort of your own home! 1. Take care of those feet with a lavender foot soak. Fill a small plastic basin with warm water and add a few drops (about 5) of lavender essential oil. Stick your feet in and soak for about ten minutes. Studies show that a ten minute soak increases circulation to the legs and feet as well as shows a measurable change in the… [more]

If not this 4th of July, at some point during the summer, you will probably be spending some time outdoors this summer. As a pregnant woman out in the sun, there are a few things you should remember.

During an unplanned pregnancy, it’s easy to get wrapped up in the stress and drama of the whole situation. It’s important to try and take good care of yourself (which in turn is taking care of your baby) during your pregnancy. Below are a few ways to take care of yourself. Most of these are simple things, but if you are like me you tend to forget the common sense things during a stressful situation.

  • Cut back and get plenty of rest. Try not to overshcedule yourself or take on too much. Pace yourself and learn to say no. You will probably feel most tired during the first and third trimesters of your pregnancy so try to bed early. Sleep
