Halloween is just around the corner. Will you be dressing up this year? Some of the local businesses in my area require (or encourage rather) their employees to dress up and I often find it funny to see adults in costume I was never pregnant during Halloween so I never had to come up with a costume. Dressing up while pregnant might seem a little silly, but it could add a little fun to a stressful time during an unplanned pregnancy.
Although, pregnancy could make dressing up a little more difficult, with a little creativity it is not impossible! I went searching the internet... more
Have you noticed any subtle changes here in the crisis pregnancy blog? I’ve been doing some really late spring cleaning – I’ve cleaned up the categories, added more sub categories and overall have tried to make the blog more accessible and easier to find any specific topics that you may be searching for.
I have some new upcoming plans for this blog as well. Once a week I will be doing a post that is related to the “parenting option” side of unplanned pregnancy. I will feature resources, government programs, websites, tips, suggestions, and success stories related to the parenting... more
It has been hot, hot, hot in my neck of the woods lately! We reached above 100 degrees several times last week. I prefer to stay in doors in my nice air conditioned home whenever possible during heat waves.
Being pregnant and dealing with this type of heat would not be fun! It’s bad enough just dealing with hot weather, but add the added weight and body changes that occur during pregnancy and you are probably feeling pretty miserable!
So if you are pregnant, especially in your third trimester, I hope you are staying cool! Here are a few... more
I’ve been blogging here in the crisis pregnancy blog for one whole year! It really doesn’t seem like a year, but I guess time really does fly when you are having fun! (Ok, so it hasn’t been ALL fun and games!)
I must confess that when I took this “gig” blogging, I’d never really blogged before. I’d kept a short family type blog that was more of a “what we did today” type thing on Noah’s website but I hadn’t really done anything where I wrote daily on a particular topic.
My friend and former co-blogger in the open... more
Is anyone else experiencing this??
During the holidays we get so caught up in shopping, family gatherings, and parties that we don’t have a lot of time to think about our problems. Once the tree is down, reality hits. The “holiday blues” are pretty common.
I’ve been feeling the “holiday blues” myself lately. There is so much excitement and build up to Christmas. There are count downs in the stores, shopping, gift making and gift giving, baking, holiday parties, etc. to take your mind off of things. But then poof – in one day it’s all over!... more
There’s no better time than pregnancy to bombard a pregnant woman with well meaning advice? It could be simple things like you should breastfeed or don’t eat such and such while your pregnant. But then as the bigger issues of an unplanned pregnancy come into the play, the well meaning advice becomes more often and of course, more well meaning.
It’s overwhelming and can be very hard at times to deal with all this advice, especially when you know it is well meaning and heartfelt. I mean in general, people want to help each other and be helpful, right?... more

Perhaps you have been away at college or somewhere and this holiday season is the first time you are going to see your family, namely your parents, the news of your unplanned pregnancy.
I know avoiding them probably seems easier, but keep in mind; our families love us and want to support us, even through the bad times. Our parents are the ones who picked us up when we fell down, dried our tears when we got a broken heart, and encouraged us when we needed it most. So during an emotional and stressful time, such as an unplanned pregnancy, it is only natural... more
“Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I’m not perfect - and I don’t live to be, but before you start pointing fingers, make sure your hands are clean.” ~ Bob Marley

In the upcoming days some of us may be traveling over the river and through the woods, to Grandmother’s House. Or perhaps your family gathers at a more modern place in the city.
Where ever your family gathering may be, there is sure to be tons of well meaning advice, lots of opinions,... more
All this holiday talk got me thinking about what it would have been like had I been in the midst of my own unplanned pregnancy during Christmas. I wasn’t, so I can not speak from experience.
I know that I wouldn’t have had enough money back then to decorate in the same fashion that I do now. I probably wouldn’t have had a big tree but I know I would have wanted to decorate in some fashion, as that would make it feel more like the holidays to me.
I know there are some of you who are probably not in the most celebratory of moods this holiday season.... more
Dealing with the holidays can be taxing and stressful enough but add an unplanned pregnancy to the mix and you may not be in the most festive of moods. But you may still attend a few celebrations and try to be merry.
Below are some of the problems you may encounter while being pregnant this holiday season along with tips on how to deal with each problem.
