Not the usual crisis pregnancy post today but I am using my blog as my sounding board today.
I’m a fan of news shows such as Dateline and 20/20. When I was younger, I found them boring but as I get older I watch them more and more - second to Reality TV, of course.

Since today is Father’s Day, I really wanted to post something honoring the dads out there – whether they are birthdads who participated in the adoption plan, adoptive dads, or just regular ole' Dads, but I struggled with what to say regarding birthdads. I guess this is because my son’s birthdad was not involved at all with the adoption plan and that experience has tainted my view of birthdads in general.
However, in my work at BirthMom Buds, I have gotten to know a few birthdads of our members and the birthdads that are involved are supportive of the adoption plan and go through the ups and downs just as birthmothers do, they just don’t show it as much as the birthmothers do. I guess... more

A lot of people assume (as I did, before my introduction to the world of adoption) that adopted kids were originally unwanted. Isn’t that the taunt we commonly hear on the school playground? “Nah, nah. You were adopted—your mother didn’t want you.”
But in reality, nothing could be less true. There is a big difference between unplanned and unwanted.
